What makes a Virtual Brokerage Different?

If you are a Realtor, you've probably heard a lot about what makes a virtual brokerage different. So what makes them different? Honestly, there isn't a difference. As fun as it is to write about a new invention that’s going to revolutionize the real estate industry, that’s just not what’s happening. What most people don’t realize is that it’s already been revolutionized. It’s been naturally and irrevocably self-revolutionized because of technology. Before the internet it took a huge team of people to do one thing. Using the word virtual is just a fancy way of saying that you don’t use a fax machine anymore. Today, we do everything digitally and with fewer people. Physical space is no longer needed to communicate, share, and manage.

 What hasn’t revolutionized is how Realtors see their industry.

It’s like everyone is stuck in the mid 90’s. It’s neither trendy nor vintage. It’s just behind. And the only one who pays is the Realtor. Traditional brokerages don’t want agents to know that the way they’ve been doing it for years with offices, team meeting, and micro managing doesn’t make sense anymore. After all, clients don’t meet you at your office. They meet you at coffee shops, their own home or at their potential dream home. Why ruin that opportunity by dragging them to a shell of an office? 

You, as a Realtor, are already virtual you just don’t realize it. Everything from filling out forms, signing documents, and even applying for a mortgage is done through a smart phone or laptop. The real difference between a traditional and virtual real estate brokerage is that traditional brokerages have a bigger slice in your commission. So, is an office really worth it? 

Quit wasting time going to an office and team meetings. If camaraderie is what you really want, set up a group chat or video conference. Who really has time to go to an office these days? You should be out making money.
